What Is Covid-19?
Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered strain of coronavirus, a type of virus known to cause respiratory infections in humans. However, most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. This new strain was unknown before December 2019, when an outbreak of pneumonia of unidentified cause first emerged in Wuhan, China.
The first case of COVID-19 in Malaysia was detected on 24 January 2020.

How It Spreads
COVID-19 is caused by a virus that is thought to spread primely from person to person, via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are within close proximity or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
There is avid evidence that the COVID-19 virus can also last on surfaces such as plastic or metal for up to 3 days where plastics can hold the virus longer than any other surface. This is why the advice to avoid catching COVID-19 has focused on handwashing with soap, the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizing gels, and keeping a distance from people who are symptomatic. The disease is more likely to be spread when people are in close contact with one another (less than 6 feet).

COVID-19 seems to be spreading effortlessly and sustainably in the community in any affected geographic areas. Community spread refers to people who have been infected with the virus in an area, including some who are unaware of how or where they became infected.
